Hmmm. She’s already expecting flack over her caribou hunting expedition on “Sarah Palin’s Alaska”. Maybe deep down somewhere, in that Grinch sized heart of hers, she knows it’s wrong to use a high powered firearm to kill an animal from a great distance. She talks about being 400 to 500 miles from a grocery store, so hunting is required to feed the family. I suspect, however, that Wasilla actually has a grocery store. Her line is the video is a clear demonstration of her cluelessness: “we don’t have the advantage, the animals have the advantage”. After she drove there in a extended cab pickup, and was hoisting a rifle with a scope up to shoot an animal.
One thing I will say about Sarah Palin: I hope she runs for President in 2012, and wins the Republican nomination. The drubbing she’d then take in the general election would pretty much shut her up. Well, I take that back. It wouldn’t shut her up, but at least it might open her eyes a bit. I can hope, anyway, can’t I?

I’ve already ordered my copy. It will help keep me warm during our long cold winter.
Secretary of Defense since December 2006 (appointed by George W. Bush and approved by the Republican controlled Senate), Robert M. Gates today stood up to Republican members of the Armed Services Committee in defense of ending the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy in effect for 17 years.
Reprising a Reagan line, “If not now, when? When we’re out of Afghanistan?” Mr. Gates said. “I don’t see the world getting to be a safer, easier place to live in, where our troops are necessarily under less stress.” The Armed Forces integrated racially during the Korean war, when resistance both in the services and the public in general was strongly against that action. Majority opinion in both the military services and in the public in general support repeal of DADT, but Republican Senators are attempting to stonewall the repeal, part of the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act). They are willing to hold up funding for the entire military, rather than let the bill pass with DADT repeal included.
Firmly, but respectfully, Secretary Gates made it clear he supports repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

All 42 Republican Senators have signed a letter to Senate Majority leader Reid stating they will block all legislative action in the Senate’s remaining term, unless they first pass tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires. Nothing else will be allowed to come to a vote before their second most important agenda item is passed (the first being insuring President Obama serves only one term). The rich come first.
It doesn’t matter to them that the Congressional Budget Office has crunched the numbers, and reported that extending tax cuts for the top few percent of Americans is the least effective way to stimulate the economy, and extending unemployment payments the best. For the Republicans, it’s payback time. They are going to reward the people and companies that supported them to the tune of billions of dollars in ads and campaign contributions, and they are going to drag the Democrats down any way they can, regardless of any other of the nation’s business that won’t get handled in the mean time.
This is what the Tea Party and the Republicans among us have wrought. I hope they are happy. Their nearsightedness is going to affect this country for a long time. We’ve been stepped on by the elephant, and we’re about to get shat upon as well.
It’s official. Allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve in the Armed Forces of the United States will not destroy the military. The Department of Defense today released it’s study on the implementation of repealing the mis-named “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Don’t Pursue” policy. The report has been endorsed by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Navy Admiral Mike Mullen, and by Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates. President Obama today urged … Read More
