How’s this for a birthday bash? Oakland’s gay community got together and decided to throw a big street party in honor of my birthday!
Such thoughtful folks! And so many adorable men! Even Chaka Khan was there!
Sorry about the audio, iPhones just can’t handle loud bass. Or just plain loud, for that matter.

Saturday morning, 3am. We’re walking out of the dispatch center, heading to our cars, when we hear a loud cracking noise, splintering, and a huge crash. The oak tree in the middle of Woodland Drive lost a section of branches to gravity. Fortunately, no one was near the tree when the limbs dropped. I suspect we’ll soon see the removal of this tree, as the City of Visalia moves to “protect public safety” (read: limit city liability). A tree in the middle of Demaree Road was removed a couple of years ago, and I’m certain this one will be also, now. It’s a shame, they’re majestic trees, but paving over their root system is a death sentence, even if it takes decades to kill them.

So, apparently, there’s this game where a bunch of hot men play in their underwear, in front of thousands? How have I missed this? I’ve heard about some game “soccer moms” take their kids to, in the mini-van, but it’s surely not this, is it?
Apparently this guy, Landon Donovan had an important goal in the game today. From what I’m hearing, maybe the winning one? Well, that’s good, right? So after the jump, there’s a couple more of him. Just because.

I think this gives a much better view of the damage that’s been done, and will be done, in the Gulf. Images from the ground, as terrible as they are sometimes, never allow you to see the scope of the disaster. We’ve killed half the Gulf of Mexico, and more to come.
