“I say.. I say… dial 9-1-1, son. Quickly, now…”

(That title should be read in the voice of Foghorn Leghorn)

You never know what you’ll hear on the other end of a 9-1-1 call.  Here’s one I took the other night.

Now, this came in from a disconnected cell phone, so there was no way to pin-point it’s location, and no way to call it back.

Fortunately, these chickens sounded Code 4 (no assistance needed) to my ear, so I’m not real concerned about their status. (the voices you hear are background noises in the dispatch center, picked up when I transferred the recording to my phone.  The call was only clucking.)

When I was a kid, we raised some chickens, and I learned the difference between contented clucking, and panic clucking.  This sounds like contented clucking, to me.

This was a first.  I’ve never taken a 9-1-1 call, even an accidental one, from a chicken before.  I’ve heard stories of cats and dogs calling 9-1-1 during actual emergencies, but I haven’t experienced that.  Maybe that’s something for the future.

Cluck cluck.

Wesley (Wil Wheaton) and Scotty (Simon Pegg) have plans for the Enterprise D

I love it when creative people get creative right in front of me.  It’s fun to watch, and sometimes you can learn something.

Read this exchange between Wheaton and Pegg from the bottom up.

Speaking of dreams…

OK, no more full meals just before bed.

I just woke up from one of the strangest dreams I’ve had (or remembered I’ve had) in a very long time.
This one involves a road trip, a parade, a “stolen” car, and a screaming angry woman.

It also manages to include HAM radio, a CB shop, two gay men winking at me, and my walking down a street in a bath robe.

Another “What were they thinking?” moment

So you have to ask yourself, “WTF?? What was the photographer thinking, and was it done on purpose?”  The look on her face…   and on his!

To coin a phrase…

oh myyyyyyy

The Huffington Post has some other… unusual… Valentines Day pictures, here.

Angels, Devils, and Dr. Pepper

I was driving down the street this afternoon, heading to Quizno’s for another of their fantastic salads, when I passed a trio of boys trying to attract the attention of passing motorists.  They were all about 12 years old, and one held up a sign that said “Dr. Pepper $1.00”.  They waved and yelled as I drove past, trying to get me to stop.  I don’t particularly care for Dr. Pepper, and I already had a 44 ounce Pepsi sitting next to me, so I drove on.  I thought about holding up my big cup as I drove by, but the moment passed before I could manage it safely.

That’s when the angel appeared.
