“… and the Shuttle has cleared the tower.” For the next two minutes, twin solid rocket boosters propel the Space Shuttle toward orbit. Cameras are mounted in several locations on each booster, and if you’ve ever wondered what happens to them, here’s your chance to find out. Two minutes of powered flight, separation from the Shuttle and main fuel tank, four minutes of fall, and then splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean.

Veteran Isaac Soderstrom speaks out at a budget meeting in Modesto, California, March 9, 2011. Cuts to programs at the Modesto Junior College are creating controversy in the community. Mr. Soderstrom takes issue with the treatment of previous speakers. The board does not respond well, and the audience vocally supports him. The Chairwoman clearly does not understand what the best course of action should be, worried only that the “rules” be followed. The clip ends with Soderstrom escorted out by police.

One end of Fresno Yosemite International Airport (yes, Fresno really has an international airport!) is mere yards from a busy feeder street, Clovis Avenue. As you sit at the traffic light, planes come floating in for a landing, and it feels like you can reach out and touch them. Fighter jets from the Fresno Air National Guard post tend to scream, rather than float, as they come in for a landing.
Two things I noticed in this video. My windshield was really dirty, and the turn signal relay is a noisy contraption!
Squirrel has two meanings here… like the dog in UP!, it’s easy to get distracted by something suddenly screaming into range, and also an inside joke at a certain computer IT company.
