PIXAR: It Gets Better

Some of the folks who brought us Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles,  WALL-E, Cars, Monsters, Inc., and so much more have made a “It Gets Better” video.  It’s well worth 8 minutes of your time, and I recommend watching it.

DADT Discharges Effectively Halted? Discharges halted?  Perhaps. No U.S. service members have been discharged for being openly gay in the month since the Defense Department adopted new rules surrounding the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, a Pentagon spokeswoman said Monday.  New rules were adopted on October 21st, putting the final sign-off on discharges under the control of the three service secretaries, who are civilians.  Previously, discharges could be approved by a commander w … Read More

Hey!  What is happening?  Is Washington actually going to surprise me and pass the National Defense Authorization Act WITH the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell still in the bill?  It seems so!  Recent reports are making it look like the bill will come before the Senate with the repeal provision intact, and that there are enough votes to prevent a filibuster by Senator John McCain or others.

Stay tuned.

Foot-dragging on DADT (via Modern Skeptic)

The foot-dragging by the US government on the repeal of the discriminatory Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy is beyond irritating.  Gays and lesbians are serving silently, and with honor, throughout the US military.  Unfortunately, the US government is also serving silently – albeit with dishonor. The lack of progress on this repeal falls squarely on the shoulders of the spineless Democrats.  How is it that the Democrats can occupy the White House, th … Read More
