Being that I’m not that familiar with CA, what are the Hog Wallows?

It’s an area that’s never been leveled or farmed since white settlers came to the area. The land is in the same condition that it was found in back in the mid-1800’s. It is undulating, with shallow depressions and small mounds, something you might see in an area where hogs wallow frequently. While there were wild hogs in times past, the features are not the result of any animal activity. Simply a ground feature common to the area before farming leveled everything. It’s far enough away from natural river courses to have avoided being smoothed by water flow. It’s not clear from the picture, but out looking at it in person you can see the ‘wallows’.
