Well, that was a complete waste of a Saturday!
I woke up a bit earlier than normal, and was looking through my emails when I saw one recommending a story site on the internet, and one particular story. I checked it out, and started reading at about 1pm. It didn’t look to be too long of a story, although it was listed at 33 chapters. Now, “chapters” on online sites tend to be a few paragraphs, so I thought I could knock that out fairly quickly. I’m a fast reader, and can burn through a story pretty quickly.
Bad idea.
I was quickly hooked by the story, and kept reading, at several points expecting it to wrap up soon. New twists and turns kept popping up, however, and I kept reading. As I neared the end, I was wondering why I had developed a headache and wasn’t feeling too well. I thought the headache might be due to the site’s rather unfortunate choice of white text on black background, that scheme is a bit uncomfortable for computer screen reading.
As I neared the final few chapters, I also noticed it was dark outside my window! I looked at the clock, and it was nearing 11pm! No wonder I felt lousy and had a headache! I had been reading in bed for about ten hours! I hadn’t had any Pepsi, and the caffeine withdrawal was kicking in, and I hadn’t eaten anything! Normally by 11pm I’ve had two meals, but not yesterday. Wow. I plowed on through to finish, and turned the computer off at midnight.
I’m not going to do that again.
But, it was a good story, I liked it. It hooked me in early, and I simply could not see where it was going. The only things I didn’t really find believable was the age of the main character and his level of experience and maturity. I thought the writer made many of the characters too young for the situation. Aside from that, and some annoying spelling errors from time to time, it was a good read.
It’s not for everyone, there’s a lot of gay sex between under-age characters, but aside from that it was enjoyable.
